SAPPA 2012 (South Australian professional Photography Awards)

Well day 1 of the SAPPAS's started this morning with the Contemporary Photographic Art category where we had to display between 3 and 6 prints as we would in an exhibition and also write an artist statement....it was the first time that this category has been held and was totally new ground for all who entered and more than a little nerve racking. The judges were mostly art curators alongside one of our national photographic judges and they assessed each entry by separately scoring the print and the statement and then giving the series as a whole a overall score....I am more than happy to have received 2 Silver with distinctions and 2 silvers for my prints with an overall score of 85 which is a Siver dist for the series...not quite enough to win the category I don't think but very encouraging from an exhibition point of view....here are the final prints entered...
